“Her solid ethics, her finely-tuned intelligence provide the backdrop for the wisdom that laces her advice and counsel.”
Integrity and consistency ground Susan, from her surface to her core, all 360-degrees of her. She is the person of many capacities I go to for reflection and clarity on both personal and professional levels. The one I brainstorm with, sort through with and test ideas on.
Her solid ethics, her finely-tuned intelligence provide the backdrop for the wisdom that laces her advice and counsel. She turns confusion into organized wonderment, then achievement. She is stable, whether balancing a crisis or a yogic headstand on top of a mountain. She listens with full attention and responds not only with her smarts, but also with her heart and spirit from which her creative problem-solving springs. Her flexible and non-judgmental nature also dances with her wicked sense of humor. People easily engage in her warmth and welcoming presence.
You may ask, what is my authority to write this? Simple. I’ve known and trusted Susan for 52 years!

Dr. Lange,
Enclosed is the check for our session on Fall date, 2016. I cannot express how grateful I am you are my therapist. Thank you for all of your support and guidance.
(From a Professional woman getting consultations about her career development and relationship enhancement in the context of a dual career relocation to a different state.)
“Thank you, Dr. Lange, I think that you are Amazing!”
Thank you, Dr. Lange, I think that you are Amazing! I appreciate your willingness to be available even though you’ve moved. You’re very helpful for my advancing through this season, while aiming at the Mark of the High Calling.
(From a woman who has a leadership role in a community of faith, manages chronic pain and works to improve her communications with her adult children and spouse.)
“Susan Lange, PhD is an excellent clinician, consultant, training group leader and talented communication expert.”
I have known Susan for over 25 years and through numerous shared working environments, I have experienced her talents: as fellow students (and later, as advanced trainers) of the Systems Centered Training and Research Institute. For a number of years we co-trained an SCT training group, and I have consulted with her around various psychotherapy cases we have shared during her many years working in Austin, Texas.
Susan is highly skilled, extremely intelligent, and is able to work with the ideas of context that are necessary to engage complex systems. I have been the beneficiary of her abilities to discover and work with the finer level details of a situation, as well as then place that information into a larger context impacting and informing an understanding at multiple levels. The outcome of this way of seeing and thinking and then acting can be vastly different than seeing challenging situations from only the level of individuals.
As a therapist, she is one person I have no hesitation in making a referral to, knowing that the person or group will have an attuned, challenging, yet supportive experience.
Throughout these many years in various contexts and roles, I welcome and have actively sought out her view, for it uniqueness, wider-angle perspective, and ability to penetrate below the usual surface views that, though they may be ‘correct’, are often not inclusive of the complexity of the lives and dilemmas we all face. I want someone who can hold that complexity and shape it into a useful new and creative way to understand a way forward that changes the whole, be it an individual within their life situation, a couple trying to forge a more satisfying and effective relationship, or a work group that needs to untie the knots that keep most groups from working more collaboratively and effectively.
Susan’s communication skills are as effective as any I have encountered.
The best way to end is to tell you what a warm, caring, attentive, and devoted person Susan is toward the people she cares for and people she works with. I have seen this under many stressful situations and thus have become ever more her champion. I’d turn to Susan if I had a challenging and complex situation in which I needed a fresh perspective. I can trust her ability to think in a way that will help me sort out the best way forward rather than offer me solutions. I have the highest regard for this ethical way of engaging.
Consider having a conversation with her about a dilemma or challenge or goal you want to meet. I believe you will see the seeds of what I am describing and you may well decide to work with her. I hope so!

“She reliably functioned with keen ethical and professional skills and she demonstrated incredibly astute leadership.”
I had the pleasure of working closely in a professional setting with Susan Arnold Lange, Ph.D. between the years 2002 and 2009. I was the Executive Director of Interface-Samaritan Counseling Centers in Houston and I hired Dr. Lange for the role of Clinical Director. In that role and in the role of clinician, she reliably functioned with keen ethical and professional skills and she demonstrated incredibly astute leadership. Her clinical peers, the other leadership staff, and the administrative staff respected her. She contributed to meetings of the Board of Directors and collaborated with sponsoring church staff.
In addition to working closely with Susan on the leadership team of Interface, I also participated over a period of five years in the Systems-Centered® Theory training group that she leads. Again, I was very aware of her well-honed abilities to collaboratively work with organizational groups as well as families.
I would not hesitate to refer my closest friends or family members to her for professional help.

“She lives what she helps others learn and practice.”
I have known Susan for over 30 years. She is both a competent and insightful therapist and is continually questioning and working faithfully on her own professional and spiritual growth. She has learned how to integrate God’s healing presence with her therapeutic practice. She lives what she helps others learn and practice.
